Butterfly Bar
By Henry Long
I am not entirely sure what butterflies do or how they situate themselves in the wild. But this particular butterfly, of the bar variety, attaches itself to the Vortex theatre and comforts patrons while they wait for a show or a plate of hot pasta from Patrizi’s next door.
At Butterfly Bar, they serve the beers cheap, cold and much needed. Each sip comes at the perfect time, whether you are shuffling out of your seat for intermission or you have found yourself at the end of a long line for pasta.
The bathroom here is a singular experience. It looms in the corner like a lavatory Everest, demanding courage and confidence on each visit. If you can navigate this mixed gender maze without catching stage fright, reward yourself with a seasonal cocktail or a chilly beer at a fair price.
