Uchiba
By Lucca Sgro
What’s your death row meal….GO.
Well, for me, it’s sushi. Always has been and always will be!
And better yet, why do you have my funeral at Uchiba just to solidify why this sushi spot is on my list?
You sit down in the beautifully lit dining area, and a server greets you with a warm, eucalyptus-infused towel and a steaming cup of tea. You are already thrilled with excitement when you remember it’s happy hour!
You start with the classic, blistered and burnt shishito peppers…salted to perfection while you sip on a crisp, bitter hot sake. The spicy mayo complements the shishito peppers is not and delights with fresh, bold flavors.
After you’ve indulged a bit more, perhaps with the mushroom nigiri or the wagyu rock, you’ll arrive at my two favorite dishes: the dry-aged toro, flown in fresh from Japan this morning, and the classic salmon nigiri.
These two combined will have you dreaming of this meal tomorrow, because these two pieces of fish will keep you coming back again and again.
